Man thought to be dead was found calling out bingo numbers at home!
Jack Brooks, an 84-year-old war veteran living in Stalybridge in a retirement home was believed to have died this past week, until funeral arrangements shed light on the truth. A friend's call to the retirement home to plan his service resulted in Jack's friend speaking to Jack himself! As it turns out, another war veteran had died at the age of 85, with the same name as Jack.
Jack had been calling out bingo numbers for his friends at the retirement home - ironically, at the exact same moment a minute of silence was being held for him elsewhere.
Jack replied to the death report, "I must confess I have been a bit under the weather but I'm not dead yet and reports of that are greatly exaggerated."
"I didn't really think much of it when I found out about it. In fact it was quite funny. But I don't mind as I'm not dead!"
