Bingo Runner: The Chase Through Time Part 3

All virtue is summed up in dealing justly.

Bingo RunnerDan was enjoying his leave immensely. It was fantastic to get back home without a care in the world. He lay on his plush couch in his spacious flat, reading a fantasy novel with dragons and knights. Dan chuckled to himself, thinking, if only life were so simple! I could handle a few dragons every now and then...

He sipped his espresso and took a moment to stretch out. He almost felt like a normal fellow after two weeks without work. He'd taken the opportunity to exercise, clean, even work on his car a bit. None of it ever really gave him peace though, and he often awoke in a cold sweat. He knew that he could never escape who or what he was, a weapon for the corporation. He was back at work tomorrow, and was admittedly excited to get back into work, having become almost a little bored during his time off.

Dan got up and strode to the window, his heart fluttering with all the caffeine. In spite of it all, he was tired, and it was dark out. He decided to move away from the window then, his habitual paranoia resurfacing. It seemed as good a time as any to go to bed.

Meanwhile, a car was racing across town, tires squealing as it drifted around a corner through the rainy evening. "Slow down Rob, you're going to get us killed!" Phoenix said, grabbing the banister but smiling nonetheless. Rob was elated to be driving; it had been years since he had been behind the wheel of a car with wheels! He had rented a jet black BMW, refusing to settle for less than the best. The coupe was a pleasure, and he was having the time of his life. He hadn't forgotten his mission though, and although Phoenix was unaware, he was taking them into the mountains for some reconaissance on the organization, not just for a pleasure drive.

Phoenix and Rob had really hit it off in the past few weeks. It was more a friendship than anything, two seemingly wayward souls brought together by the sole fact that they were alone. They had not been intimate; instead they had spent every minute of their waking days living life to the fullest. Rob was on shore leave he had told her, and Phoenix was on stress leave in light of recent events in her life. They had rock climbed, eaten at the finest restaurants, and experienced a variety of other luxuries, with an eager Rob who refused to take anything for granted. Rob always had ulterior motives though, each location held valuable information. He learned more about the corporation and their exterior agents, and he was slowly piecing together the puzzle that would lead him to his grandfather's murderer. He wasn't here just for vengeance though, the corporation had to be stopped. What they had done in the future was not only un-forgivable, it was inhumane and savage. He would see them fall. He swore it to himself, on his grandfather's grave.
