Is the new smoking ban the death of Bingo? We think not.
This February in Britain, a nationwide smoking ban has been implemented, and a few bingo halls are worried that their profits will begin to decrease rapidly.
In fact, many bingo halls have been cutting costs because of the smoking ban, and lots of bingo callers have lost their jobs. Players have been coming in for shorter playing periods or in some cases, have stopped coming altogether.
The situation may seem bleak to some; however, I can see two positive options for the future.
The first positive result of the smoking ban and one good scenario that we can expect, is that we will actually see more people joining the fun at the local bingo hall, as more people who were previously turned off by the lingering smoke will start returning again to enjoy the game of bingo.
Lots of people are bothered by smoke or worry about the harmful side effects of second-hand smoke, and hopefully as our society becomes more health-conscious, bingo halls will begin to grow again and big profits will return.
The second positive scenario is that more bingo players will begin playing online bingo - a popular and rapidly growing trend of gaming on the Internet. Most people who can't get out to the bingo halls in the first place, will find themselves looking for online bingo and playing a few hands with friends online.
Online bingo is great because there is still the possibility to socialize with friends, have fun, and most importantly, win a large sum of money. So don't worry bingo friends and family! Smokers united online at Bingo.com.
