Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford gets chest waxed in a public service announcement.
When fighting a noble cause, some people write letters and others form protests. Harrison Ford gets his chest waxed. The handsome star of the famed Indiana Jones movies is doing a 30-second US public service announcement to raise awareness about the effect of deforestation on global warming.
This isn't the first time the 65-year-old actor has 'waxed humanitarian', either. Ford, whom you would not ordinarily see starring in these types of TV spots, already sits on the board of directors of Conservation International, a Washington-based environmental organization.
Conservation International CEO Peter Seligmann said he didn't have to talk Ford into anything. Seligmann was there to see the chest waxing being filmed, and said, "It really hurt. There's nothing about the expression on his face that was fake."
Who can be surprised? Indiana Jones is one tough cookie, after all. And through the pain, Ford gets his message out there.
"Every bit of rainforest that gets ripped out over there," he says bravely, as an aesthetician rips off another wax strip, "really hurts us over here."
We think the fit actor is a champ for braving such an excruciating act in the name of the rain forest. Perhaps we'll see Mr. Ford at the next celebrity bingo charity night? Well I for one certainly hope so, there's no-one I'd rather see call out those bingo numbers than Indiana!
