5 Ways To Enjoy Summer

This summer, we want you to have fun without spending too much. We think the best way to do that is to remember the fun things we did as a child – back when we didn’t have any money to spend! So here are some fun, easy, and cheap ways to celebrate the sun, kids-style!

1. Run Through The Sprinkler.

Reclaim your youth and throw caution and water to the wind! Do you remember when you started using a sprinkler to water your lawn instead of for summer fun? The best way to feel 8 years old again is to pull out your old lawn sprinkler and put on a swimsuit.

2. Use Coconut Sun Block.
Don’t forget your SPF 40 this summer! Sun block makes your time in the sun safe, but doesn’t have to be all grease and chore. Use a coconut-smelling sun block for a fun and fresh summer fragrance this season.

3. Outdoor Bingo Circle.
Knitting circles and drum circles are so passé! This summer’s new trend is the Bingo Circle! Get a few of your friends out in the backyard for a barbecue and bingo party.

Outdoor Bingo For One: Bring your laptop or home computer to a patio, deck or balcony if you have one, and play some online bingo in the natural light. Don’t forget your extension cord! 

4. Create Chalk Art.
Buy some colourful sidewalk chalk and get drawing on your neighbourhood sidewalks! Self-portraits, bingo cards, rainbows, the more colourful the better. You may want to solicit the help of neighbourhood kids to get some truly magnificent sidewalk chalk art in your area.

5. Make Homemade Popsicles.
All you need is a few plastic mini yogurt cups or small plastic or paper cups if you don’t want to buy some frozen pop molds from the store. Use popsicle sticks or whatever kind of wooden craft stick as a handle. If your liquid solution isn’t thick enough to keep your stick standing upright, let the solution freeze for about an hour before inserting the sticks then continue freezing. Mix frozen strawberries, orange juice, or even chocolate milk to make these delicious frozen pops, and enjoy while sitting on some fresh-cut grass or a sandy beach!
